Pimp IT up
The demand of highly IT trained students is larger than ever. Despite the prosperous future perspectives, there are few students who find their way to the education of computer science. Prejudices and misconceptions seem to restrain them, the stereotype image of the unworldly computer scientist in a stuffy-work environment is still widespread. Despite the fact that there are more than 100 different types of professions in information science, the students consider this sector as monotonous and boring.
With the organization of “Pimp IT up!” by the department Business Information, the College of Ghent offers to join the battle to the prejudices concerning information science as a profession. Moreover the College of Ghent wants to rouse the students’ interest in computer science.
This year LoQutus will welcome the upper sixth form of Accounting – Information Science from Visitatie at Mariakerke. They will not only get introduced into
the real-life of a Computer Scientist but they will also obtain some practical tips to be used in their future education.
Furthermore LoQutus can really recommend the Computer Science education at the College of Ghent: two of our own people Robin De Boom and Steven Decoodt have successfully graduated there.
